Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

During our initial session, we will get to know each other a bit and decide if I am the right therapist for you. I will encourage you throughout the session to tune into how it feels to sit with me. We will talk about what brings you to therapy and what you hope to get out of our time together. You will certainly get a taste of how I work with clients and my style of therapy.

I am described by my clients as authentic, caring, and direct. I don’t allow my clients to simply “vent.” If I notice an opportunity to help someone uncover parts of themselves that they have often spent their entire lives running away from, I politely interrupt and stop them. I do ask for permission though. I privilege transformance over pathology. You can read more about me here.

I do not accept insurance. However, it is advisable to check with your insurance provider to see if you have any out-of-network benefits available for counseling. You can inquire whether your out-of-network plan covers the CPT code 90834. If you do have out-of-network benefits, please inform me so that I can provide you with invoices after our sessions that include all the necessary information for your insurance to process the claim. Please understand that I won’t submit these invoices on your behalf.

I have a set out-of-pocket fee for all my clients (please call or text for my current rates at (303) 898-6140). My fees automatically increase by $10 at the start of each calendar year. I offer sliding scale openings, so if you are interested in a lower fee, PLEASE ASK. I accept all major credit cards, HSA cards, and FSA cards, as well as payments through Venmo: @Marta-Kem.

I typically see clients on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 9am until 4:30pm. Occasionally, I also meet with clients on Thursday mornings. I have an online scheduling system that I encourage all my clients to use; however, I am always happy to book sessions for you if you don’t feel comfortable doing it yourself. If, after our initial session, we decide to work together, I recommend scheduling three or four sessions in advance to ensure our schedules are coordinated.

Initially, I suggest that we meet weekly. If your budget or your schedule doesn’t permit that, bimonthly sessions are also effective. I don’t advise meeting once a month unless we have worked together for a longer period.

If you are unable to attend your session, please inform me at least 48 hours in advance. I understand that sometimes life can get in the way, and notifying me beforehand may not be feasible. I typically offer my clients one chance to cancel a session without incurring a late fee. After that, a full fee will apply for any missed sessions.

Having a reliable internet connection and finding a private place for therapy is essential. If you don’t have a quiet space at home, we can hold a session from your car if that feels comfortable. You might also consider a quiet park or a parking lot with good cell reception. Alternatively, you can book a private study room at your local library. Having your phone or tablet on a stand is best so you don’t need to hold your device for the entire session. Please bring some water, tissues, headphones (in case the sound is poor), and/or a journal or notebook, as those may be useful during the session.

I see clients for in-person sessions on Tuesdays. My office address is 11154 Huron Street, #104 Northglenn CO 80234. Please know that I bring my 8-year-old labradoodle to work. His name is Toby, and he is an amazing office dog and a great companion. He is not trained as a service dog, but he is VERY calm and also hypoallergenic.

In addition to individual counseling, I am also a trained Breathwork Facilitator. I offer weekly, donation-based, group, and online Breathwork sessions.

I also offer Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP).
